Webinar Description

Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) is an evidence-based, trauma-focused treatment that helps individuals recover from the psychological impact of traumatic experiences. This webinar explores how CPT has been adapted and applied in humanitarian crisis settings, including conflict zones, displacement camps, and disaster-affected communities. Participants will learn how trauma-related beliefs become “stuck points” that maintain distress, and how CPT’s structured, skills-based approach helps patients challenge and modify beliefs. The session will also review the evidence supporting CPT in diverse populations, address cultural considerations, consider flexible delivery models, and explore ethical challenges faced by clinicians supporting trauma survivors in these environments.

Learning Objectives

  1. Understand the evidence base supporting the application of CPT across diverse and crisis-affected settings and populations.

  2. Identify ways CPT can be adapted for use in humanitarian and low-resource settings.

  3. Recognize the practical and ethical challenges of delivering CPT in humanitarian crisis contexts.
